Scanner Location

The scanner is located at AG32, the Geotech computing lab, very close to the Air Photo Lab. You will need to obtain the access code for this room from Prof. Dowding. Use the computer directly oppposite the door - the one with the largest screen and the scanner!

 

Basics

 

Basic Scanning

1. If the computer is not on, turn the scanner on first by pressing the gray button on it's side. Then turn on the computer.

2. Log onto computer (through Novell screen) using ID and password from class.

3. Launch Adobe Photoshop. It will be an icon on the Desktop.

4. Put the photograph face down on the scanner's glass top.

5. In Photoshop, under the Import submenu in the File menu, select 'Twain 32...'.

6. A new window will appear titled 'Epson Twain'. Click on the Preview button to do a low-resolution scan of the image (this will allow you to select the portion of the image you want to scan in high resolution).

7. Select the area of the image you want to scan (in the case, the entire photograph).

8. Set the scanning resolution to 600-pixels/inch and the scan type to black & white photo and 8 bit grayscale.

9. Click on Scan. Once the scan is complete, view image from Photoshop.

10. Save image from Photoshop into C:/Airphoto2000/your file.
